The G20 Summit 2023 will take place on September 9 and 10, 2023, at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre (IECC) in New Delhi.
On September 9 and 10, 2023, the G20 Summit will take place in the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre (IECC) in New Delhi. Twenty leaders of different countries will attend the summit. The location was decorated a few days before the Summit officially began.
Union Minister for External Affairs (MEA) S. Jaishankar cited the convention center's inspiration from Indian customs and representation of the nation's various regions as the reason the Bharat Mandapam was chosen as the site for the G20 Summit rather than Lutyens' Delhi. It's a new time period, government, and way of thinking now. According to the Prime Minister, the G20 Summit should be viewed as a national undertaking in which all of India must feel a feeling of participation. Additionally, Bharat Mandapam is genuinely non-partisan, he said.
Lord Basaveshwara's concept of Anubhav Mandapam served as the inspiration for the convention center's name.
The 123-acre campus as a whole is a testament to the modern architectural grandeur, with 12 large exhibition halls connected by a 40-foot wide glass canopy, a state-of-the-art convention centre that can hold 7,000 people, and right next to it, a lovely public plaza with an artificial lake that occupies about 1.5 acres.
The convention center's entrance at Bharat Mandapam is graced with a massive 28-foot-tall statue of "Nataraja," which is thought to be the highest statue in the world. The statue represents Lord Shiva, known as the "Lord of Dance," and his cosmic ability to bring about both creation and destruction.
The primary location for the G20 Summit in 2023 will be the International Exhibition and Convention Centre (IECC). The ideal fusion of culture, technology, and traditions, Bharat Mandapam is a reflection of Indian culture and values, the nation's G20 Presidency, and the significance and relevance of the world summit.
A masterwork created from Ashtadhatu, a rare alloy, the Nataraja statue stands at 27 feet tall and weighs an incredible 18 tonnes. Radhakrishnan Sthapaty and his crew from Swami Malai in Tamil Nadu diligently crafted it. They accomplished this astounding feat in a record-breaking seven months thanks to their extraordinary dedication. Radhakrishnan is notable because he comes from a lineage of idol sculptors that spans 34 generations and dates back to the Chola Empire.
International cooperation is demonstrated by the development of Bharat Mandapam. Arcop created the project in collaboration with Aedas, Singapore, combining a wealth of knowledge to create this architectural masterpiece.
Several relics will be on display at the 'Culture Corridor' opening soon at the G20 Summit location here, including manuscripts of the Rig Veda from India, a rare copy of the Magna Carta from the UK, and an anamorphic digital version of the Mona Lisa from France.
The Nataraja statue, a significant representation of cosmic energy, creativity, and power, will draw attention at the G20 conference. IGNCA, a team within the Ministry of Culture, is responsible for this famous initiative.
